About me

Dr Robert Barnes is Co-CEO of BPX, a real estate platform, and exchange expert of 30 years in financial services, including as CEO of two regulated trading venues, Turquoise (2013-2022, majority owned by LSEG) & UBS MTF (2010-2013, while at UBS 1994-2013).

He received the European Markets Choice Award for Individual Market Recognition in 2022, and his peers voted him The TRADE’s first Industry Person of the Year at its Leaders in Trading Awards. In 2023, the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment awarded him its highest accolade, an Honorary Fellowship and published his article on digital securities in The Review.

Robert is an expert in market structures, having held a wide range of key advisory and policy roles in financial services, most recently serving in 2024 on UK's FCA Secondary Markets Advisory Committee and National Timing Centre programme Steering Committee led by the National Physical Laboratory.

Robert is a Chartered Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and holds a PhD from Cambridge and a BA from Harvard.

My organisation

BPX is innovating the issuance, distribution, and trading of Real Estate Securities to bring access, choice, and liquidity to Investment Managers, Property Developers, and Investors. Using the latest technologies, BPX is developing its MTF to streamline the client experience and offer compliant Digital Real Estate Assets.
